Vernal Equinox is an abstract, original 8" x 8" artwork that is part of a small series celebrating wayfinding and celestial navigation.
 
In the Kumulipo, the Hawaiian creation chant, there are many interesting linguistic similarites between differnt species. Hawaiians noticed correlations between land and sea plants and animals and embeded these observations in their language. In my own way I did the same with this painting, the seeds of the laua'e fern standing in for stars, and jacktruit like and entire sun along with the greens and yellows in this work represnt a celestial spring.
 
Mixed media, wax, gold leaf, and acrylic on cradled birch panel, this beautiful small work is a fun,  meaningful, and timeless piece of art.
