An original 12" x 12" mixed media painting utilizing collage, acrylic, and wax materials, So Much Depends on the Red Triangle ships unframed on a wooden panel.

A multilayered composition inspired by Hawaiian quilts and red sails of the Polenesian ocean voyaging canoe, the Hokulea. I often use triangles in my work because they can represent shark teeth, taro, and some types of shells, all very important to island dwelling peoples. The triangle can mean both life and death, and is often a symbol of protection.
