An original 16" x 12" painting on a cradled birch panel, Ahi was created as part of a series of primal elements, earth, fire, and water. 
 
Ahi is not only a fish, but also means fire. In the painting Ahi, I used a page from the dictionary about fire, and many layers of the dynamic colors found in a flame. Ahi is a mixed media painting finished with cold wax.
