"Lava Channel" is a 24" x 24" mixed media painting based on Kilauea’s 2018 eruption in which lava flowed through Leilani and into the ocean. 
It was personally tragic because many of my friends lost their homes, and my favorite marine sanctuary was destroyed. 
The clouds created around a lava ocean entry are full of hydrochloric acid and are dangerous, but also beautiful. I wanted to remember when destruction and new land that will grow new life meet. 
It is a mysterious, strangely peaceful yet powerful moment.
Cradled 1.5" deep on a wooden panel  this painting is ready to hang or frame.
